I’m so sorry I’ve been absent for the past week! I’ve actually been super busy with my other career so I haven’t had much time to Mommy blog here. (Please note, that’s probably the only time I will ever make a reference to my pen name. I really like keeping my professional and private life as separate as possible.)
Anyhoo, we’re going to talk Adventures in Leashville. That already sounds like a Dr. Seuss book. (For a refresher on how we got to this point, click here.)
When we went to visit my family in Palm Springs recently, we stopped by Babies R Us to look at leashes. To our surprise, there wasn’t a lot of selection of leashes. There were three. We ultimately decided on the Skip Hop Zoo Safety Harness (harness sounds so much better than leash).
We chose this for a couple of reasons. For starters, it felt pretty sturdy. When Bear takes off, he really goes! So we were concerned that the leash..ahem, harness would be sturdy. Two, it had a backpack that seem to hold a little bit of stuff. Now let’s keep it 100; a toddler only needs a toy, snack, diaper (or change of underwear), a few wipes, and maybe a couple items of clothing. It’s not like he’s going to be carrying a math book in there. We both liked the idea of Bear holding his own backpack.
So what’s the what on it?
The harness goes around your wrist like a bracelet and it’s pretty steady. So if you feel iffy on just holding it with your fingers, just put it around your wrist. It’ll stay put, trust me on this. You do have to keep up with your kid so you might find yourself a bit more exhausted than usual (I wasn’t prepared for that and I walk a lot of miles each week). Some have suggested in removing the leather strap and replacing it with an actual dog leash for more length. I don’t know about that. Bear often tries to wander in the street so I really don’t want him to get the idea he can do so.
I did get some side-eyes from parents and other people looking at me like I lost my damn mind but they’re not the ones who are raising Bo so they can kindly kiss my Black ass once again.
YouTube is taking forever to upload the video so here are pictures.
ETA: Here is the video…finally!
